2017 Frontier 4.0 CC Auto Transmission issue

Has anyone experienced this before? When driving at expressway speeds (55) up a moderate grade using cruise control, the transmission shifts down-- then shifts down again? Speed drops to 50 or so before the first downshift--then downshifts again.

One of the feelings of a "shift" could be the torque converter unlocking/locking, but it's tough to tell. The 5spd autos in these trucks have been around forever and are pretty tough.

I wonder if this isn't a programming issue in the ECM. I don't know how that would occur, but it seems logical to me.
Has there been some kind of program technical bulletin?
