Hello everyone!

I recently purchased a 2017 AWD Rogue SV with 29K on it and before dealership handed it off to me they said it was making a strange noise at low speeds in the parking lot. They told me it was the "Electric Controlled Coupling" for the RWD differential. I've googled the issue and it seems pretty common -- my question is, were the original parts faulty or is this a part that just goes out a lot? Can I expect the new one (being replaced at a nissan dealership) to last longer?

Thanks for any input!

We probably replace more of them for road damage than internal failures, and it's unusual for one to fail with a mileage that low. Make sure the dealership checks for exacerbating issues with the driveshaft or axles, and make sure it isn't running with one good rear tire and one worn.
