2016 Rogue SL with 4 cameras.

- When backing up the frame turns yellow when an object/person is detected by the camera.

- I was told that I am also supposed to hear an alert tone when this happens ... but I hear none!

Now this Nissan has the 4 cameras and the proximity detection (yellow frame) it does NOT have the lane change feature, etc. The BOSE sound system and all other features work just fine so can someone tell me if I should be getting an audible alarm at the same time as the frame turns yellow?

If so, I'll mention this to my Nissan dealership during my next check-up

Please read the owners manual https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q ... J8LJM6gB4u

Section 4-28, 29 (pgs. 213, 214) Monitor, climate, audio, phone and voice recognition systems

There's nothing in there about an audible alert. Just because the salesman said it should have it, doesn't mean it's true.

What do you mean by audiable alarm? Do you mean the beep when the yellow thing comes on or what? Please elaborate more on what you are asking. Also, does yours have the premium package?

There's supposed to be an audible electronic beep when something moves across the camera view. I notice this happening while in reverse but I forgot if this happens if the camera is just on and you're not in gear.

As "colonelcvasey" said, I was told there was supposed to be an audible "beep" (alarm) when the yellow frame appears. But as others mentioned, you can't always trust what the sales person says LOL.

As for "datechboss101", I don't believe I have the "premium package" on this SL. I do have the 4 cameras, the visual proximity alert (yellow frame) when backing up or slowly moving forward, but no lane change, blind spot detection, etc. I assume that this means that I don't have the "premium package". I also assume that this is why I don't have any audible alert.

If it's like I suspect, can you "upgrade" to the "premium package" or what I have is what I have?

By the way, I have no issues with this '16 Rogue SL. I like it very much and it was a comfortable ride from Florida to California (relocated) with my wife and two cats. The drive was not tiring and the Rogue had no issues whatsoever.

What the Rogue SL Premium Package Adds
  • Power panoramic moonroof
  • LED headlights
  • Moving Object Detection
  • Blind Spot warnings
  • Forward Collision warning
  • Forward Emergency Braking.
The only upgrade possible is to trade-in your current vehicle to get a model with these features.

I think ColonialCasey has a point. There should be an audiable beep when the yellow light indicator on the camera screen comes one, regardless of having those useless POS driving aids or not. However, you should NEVER depend on this technology, as the dang thing literally missed the garage and I happened to hit it with the hatch of the Rogue.... well, there is a separate thread about that incident.
