hey y'all, i wired a dashcam into my parents' car yesterday and now the airbag light is stuck on (but not blinking, just solid on). it seems the normal reset process (on/off 7 seconds, diag mode) is not working. i did, because i'm an idiot, unplug the aircon cluster and therefore the passenger occupancy sensor light, which likely caused this, but given most people see a blinking SRS light i'm not sure this is the case.

does anyone have an idea 1) how to reset this, or 2) if this is going to require some major work on the vehicle? also am curious how this would be caused vice the blinking light. from reading the FSM, it seems that it's likely due to deployment, but none of the bags deployed :/

No major work as long as you plugged everything back in correctly. When ever you play with the airbag system the battery should be disconnected and make sure you do not power up the vehicle with any srs system unplugged. The good news is all you should need to do is clear the code. The bad news is you will need a code reader that can access the srs module which most generic code readers can not do. Your'e probably going to have to take this to a dealer or garage that has the proper tool.

thanks! i was worried since this one wasn't blinking it was going to be f***ed. i ordered a Foxwell NT630 which seems to be pretty solid at airbag faults, hoping that will clear it :ohno:

When you get this code reader, please let us know if it works to reset the airbag light, and also what the code is. All this experience adds to the knowledge available for these cars.

the foxwell NT630pro did a solid job. connected it, it detected the VIN and let me choose ABS/SRS check for the rogue. it shows no fault with ABS (whew hahaha) and 1 fault with SRS. upon opening the fault list, it showed a fault for the passenger airbag light (the light in the center console). while IMO this is silly to require special tooling to clear, i was able to "quick clear" all the codes, and the airbag light went out. no issues since.

fwiw, the tool was $135 same day on amazon, and i'm sure if i brought it to the dealer i'd be out of a car for a few days and be charged more than that, so #winning.

Wow you just paid for the cost of the code reader by avoiding taking it to a dealer, and you have it for future use. Great job. Thanks for the info.

Just for general information, all manufacturers require a special code reader to access the abs,srs and other systems. Some code readers like yours are capable of accessing multiple manufacturers, which is great. You won’t get that from a cheap generic code reader.
