I live in Florida, bought this car new in January. Ever since I bought this car, I've noticed how inconsistent the A/C heater is. My biggest issue is when it is "cold" outside - it blows hot or warm air no matter what temperature I set the A/C to. I did not have much of an issue in the summer so I thought it was working fine. Now that it is getting cooler and "cold" here in Florida, I'm seeing the same issue come up again.
This morning, it was 39 degrees outside and if I set the inside temperature to anything 62 degrees and above, it will blow hot air. Setting it to 60, will blow warm air. The other morning, the car was reading "61 degrees" outside, it felt warmer than 61 degrees. I set it to 66 degrees inside, it will try to warm up the car.
What I think the problem is, is that the car gets confused or tries to balance the temperature outside with inside. So if the car thinks it's 61 degrees outside and you set the inside temperature higher to anything 61 or above, it will "warm up" the car. This is not ideal and gets uncomfortable after a few minutes because it's hot air. To me, if you have the car at 66 degrees - it should be blasting cold air, not with this car. If I wanted warm or hot air, I would set it to 75 or above.
I showed it to the dealer manager last week and he said "not to sugarcoat it, but that's how these things work." He said he has a lot of people complaining about it and that's just the way it is. To me, it is unacceptable and I'm trying to figure out my next step. So if anyone who has had a similar experience has fixed this somehow, I'd love to hear. Thanks in advance.
