Greetings all, hope I am doing this the right way. Just joined the forum and am new at this. I just purchased a 2016 Nissan Rogue and so far I like it pretty well. The only problem I have at present is the Daylight Running Lights. They are always on. I understand that they are for safety but I would really like to be the one who decides when to turn them off and on and not some auto manufacturer. The local dealer says they can't put a switch on them for liability reasons, or maybe they just don't know or want to do it. There are times when they need to be off, i.e. drive in movie, private investigative work and for the time you just don't want anyone to know where you are or when you are driving. I am hoping someone knows how to put an on/off switch on the Rogue so I can decide when to turn them on and off. Any information and advice greatly appreciated... Thanks..

Welcome to the forum.

I have read on other Nissan forums of guys removing the DRL or DTRL fuse as a more permanent solution.

The dealer is not going to disable of modify anything considered a safety feature that comes from the factory.

BTW, you have a drive in theater near you? I didn't know there were any left. I can imagine the car in front of you would not be happy to have your DRLs shining in their car.

Hopefully someone can offer more assistance.

You can temporarily turn off the DRL's by applying the emergency brake with the vehicle in park, shut off the vehicle, and then start the vehicle. This only works while parked. Once you release the e-brake the DRL's will come back on. As for a switch install you can look through the FSM in the lighting section which has a schematic.

Thanks guys for your response to my inquiry. I was hoping that there was an easy fix, like cutting a wire and putting in a switch. Seems like there should be a wire somewhere that is carrying the juice to the lights that could be clipped and a switch put in.. These new cars just have too many bells and whistles on them... Longing for the good ol' days when things were much more simple. Thanks again....Sam

I may be able to apply the parking brake about one click. Just enough to turn them out but not enough to engage the parking brake. I did find out that putting the brake on would turn them out but once you release the brake they come back on. May be a wire from the parking brake switch that I could splice into and ad a switch. When I get time I will investigate that option a little more. Sam
