2015 Rogue muffler air deflector

Does anyone know whether the silver air deflector covering the muffler on the 2015 Rogue can be permanently removed?
If not, can it be painted flat black?
I see the 2016 Rogue does not have the same deflector.

If you are talking about the Stainless Steel Exhaust Pipe, then yes it can be removed. Just take a look at it under the car.

It is not the exhaust pipe.
It is an air deflector bolted to the muffler. Apparently it was added for aerodynamics, however, it is ugly enough that Nissan removed it on the 2016 Rogue.
I'm wondering whether any 2015 owners have removed it.

Ahh gotcha. That I don't know. Since it's on the muffler I would guess they would've welded it, but have no idea.

I'm surprised they removed it on the 2016. When the second gen came out that was part of their "highlights" for the new gen.

i have 2016 model, and it doesnt have that thing called muffler spoiler, i believe they removed it as a standard in the event that you will install a tow hitch.

I can tell you I have a 2014 new Gen. Rogue and Have both the muffler spoiler and a tow hitch installed.

Just to let everyone know it can stay on with no problem to anything.
