I just purchased my Rogue (love it so far) and I plan to buy some kayaks next (one reason for the car purchase...). I see that I could use the vehicle recovery hook on the front bumper to tether my boats up front for transport (correct??), but I do not have a trailer hitch. Is there any way to tether the stern of my kayaks to the rear of my Rogue? I'm not seeing any attachment points there. My thought is to remove the plastic factory installed louver over the hitch anchor point and use a hook bolt on that assembly plate. Am I thinking straight??
...Yes, I do have a roof rack and waiting for my cross rails to come in for installation.
While I'm here, I'm always apprehensive about removing plastic covers from cars (for the front hook hatch and trailer hitch cover). Has anyone found that the hatches will stay tight when replaced after many uses or am I in for plastic pieces falling off when replaced?? For that matter, can they be put back in place after I take them out??
What the heck...one more question: has anyone out there used a Thule (kayak) Stacker on the Rogue installed cross rails, and does it provide a good fit?
Thanks for assuring a nervous owner.

Regarding the rear, do you have a tow hitch installed? The louvers you speak off sounds more like the cover/blank over the optional rear fog lamp which is installed on other markets of the X-Trail such as pictured. On the North American 2nd gen Rogue, a rear fog lamp is not installed and the louver takes its place.

(X-Trail and 2nd gen Rogue are very similar, unlike previous generations X-Trail and Rogue).

If you have a hitch, the receiver should extend past the bumper and you can tether your kayak to the hitch.

Sprocket, thanks. Yes that would be the optional fog light space I was talking about; I thought that was where the hitch would go. And no, I do not have a trailer hitch. So I see no good way to tie off the rear ropes although inside the optional fog light slot it did look like I could see bolt threads...
Thanks for clarifying what I was looking at!
