My front brakes have been squealing so I bought new pads and rotors. (Pedal felt just fine up to this point). While changing the pads I found the reason for worn brakes was that the slides were frozen solid, so I had to buy new calipers as well. Got everything installed and put back together.
Started with a gravity bleed on both sides. Then bleed the brakes like normal. (Open bleeder, depress pedal and hold, close bleeder, lift pedal, repeat). Did that a number of times. Didn't really see much air come out. But the pedal was still totally soft, drops right to the floor. Found a YouTube video that said you need to pump the pedal 20x, then bleed. Did that at all 4. Still soft pedal. Tried that a few times, still nothing. Finally read the FSM and followed that as best as I thought (it's a bit unclear). This involved bleeding the accumulator, then going FL, FR, RR, RL. Pump 20 times, turn on car, wait for accumulator to run (never goes more than 18sec), depress pedal (pump starts running), open bleeder, close bleeder, lift pedal. Turn of car, repeat 20 pedal pumps. Cleared out the C code that it would throw by pushing the pedal 20 times. Did this several times. Still nothing. I've gone through over a gallon of brake fluid (at least it's all nice and clean now!) and haven't seen a single bubble come out for quite a while. What am I missing?
After all this, the pedal goes right to the floor. I can get pressure if I pump 5-6 times. Then I'll start the engine, and it drops to the floor. With the engine running I can get pressure by pumping a few times, but then drops straight down. Seems like it might be a computer issue?? Thanks for any help!
