For a Nissan Rogue 2015 SV Premium Package AWD, I know the CVT requires special fluid, but what about the oil? What kind of oil does it use? I'm guessing it's using synthetic 0w-20 but I haven't looked into that yet. What about oil filter recommendations. Could I use a ford motorcraft fl 400s on it, or what motorcraft would be good for it? What about purolator, oem, wix, etc? Filter recommendations and oil recommendations? Grade and type? Does it require synthetic? I've heard horrible things about Nissan CVTs, anybody can provide more info on that? I heard most modern nissans were unreliable and were lemons.

Can i use 5w-20 in place of 0w-20, and can I use conventional, or must I use the 0 weight synthetic

In addition, please tell me more about the reliability and the CVT. I've heard horror stories on the CVT. It's not mine, but a family member bought a rogue and I think it might be a bad idea. Please tell me more about it. Things like this scare me:

And I've heard of low mileage transmission failures/replacements such as at 10k, 40k, and some, at 100k. Even if I don't have a low mileage failure is the transmission doomed to fail at a higher (though not high by modern standards) mileage such as 80 or 90k miles?

I've heard about ppl replacing their transmission several times.

Also, the warranty is not 120k for this, but 60k standard. Can I extend the warranty to 120k or more? How much does it cost, and do I extend it now or can I extend it after the 60k is over?
I live in michigan, so is rustproofing recommended?

welcome to the forum. i dont want to sound like a jerk, but we have a wonderful treasure trove of information, the forum that is. no one here, wants to sit and rehash all the information that 5 or 6 threads would cover for you.
you can use the search function, and answer all of your own questions.

i will however answer a question you didnt specifically ask, yet touched up on: the engine and transmission hardly changed from 2008. its the same motor in the altima, and other nissan models. so that means: the engine oil specifics didnt change. its recommended to use 5w-30, conventional or synthetic is up to you. you can bounce around from 0w to 5w, but i wouldnt modify the 30 number into a 20. that might be a tad too sheer for the oil pressure activated timing chain tensioning system. you can view more about engine oil in my video here:

oil filter: i dont know which ford filters will work with the nissan motor. i use whatever cheapo filter is on sale at the auto parts store, and change my conventional 5w-30 oil every 5k. in the winter(november - feb) i change things up: mobil1 0w-30 synthetic, with a mobil1 extended drain filter. this keeps the oil sheer enough during the really cold mornings. where i live, on the east coast, we have been experiencing really-really brutal winter the last 3-4 years, and i noticed using 0w-30 helps not only with smoother start-up, but warming up the engine too (sheer oil warms and cools quicker than thicker oil)
