2015 Murano.. weird issue...

2015 murano, awd. For the past few weeks, I've been having an odd whining noise come from the front of the car.. it only occurs in gear.. usually starts around 30mph.. gets louder the faster I go.. and reduces its pitch as I slow down.. does not occur while parked and revving.

Took it to dealer thinking it's a cvt issue.. I have 40k on the transmission (replaced at 118k).. no codes thrown.. but recommended transmission service. Got that done. Winding noise still there.

Fast forward later that day.. driving down road.. suddenly lose ability to accelerate.. I can switch to neutral.. and rev engine.. but putting it into gear and pressing gas pedal does not rev or move vehicle. AC stopped blowing.. traction light comes on. I turn off the car.. check under the hood a few minutes.. start it back up... put it in gear, drive it a quarter mile back to the house.

What the heck can this be? Gonna send it back to dealer tomorrow.

Welcome aboard!

Sounds like it's going into limp mode for some reason, and I suspect it's related to the whining noise. ABS sensor can cause this, but so can a failing CVT, and several other issues.

Are you getting a CEL?

This is a great example of why it's imperative to own an inexpensive scanner.

I drove it onto the tow truck and all the lights were gone. No alerts on the dash.. nothing. Started right up and drove right on. It's at nissan now, gonna call them mid morning and see what they have to say.

Allegedly, they're prone to premature front wheel bearing failure (which would explain the noise).

Thanks for the info. Yeah of course. I posted here to see if anyone has ever had anything similar occur.

1st call this morning:

Nissan tells me the tech is out driving it with a computer attached to log some details. Said we would AT LEAST get a new battery and the cables that connect to the posts.. apparantly they have horrible corrosion. Asking them to test the alternator while they're at it.

Will send post updates as I get em.
