2014 Rogue Select: Sport stays on

So I had a little spill earlier in the day since this guy didn't put the cover on properly . It spilled a bit around where the sport button is.After I wiped it and everything the sport mode seemed to stay on. I would be pushing the button and sometimes it wouldn't turn off or it'd be delayed a few seconds before it turned off, but it would turn on again shortly while I was driving. I chalked it up to the button probably being sticky from the drink, so I popped the button out and cleaned the sides thinking that was it, but now it just stays on even if I turn the car off and put it back on. Is it possible that it's sticky further down or is it more serious than that? It isn't a major issue to me except for the fact it might lower my mileage, but should I get it looked at by the dealer or my mechanic?
