Hi there,
Over the winter I installed a DDM Tuning standard HID kit on a 2014 Rogue. The car originally came equipped with the halogen lighting and my gf wanted to increase the output of light she was getting. I've installed a bunch of these before with no issue, however on her car after 2-3 weeks of working fine, one side stopped powering up. It would power a halogen bulb OK, but the HID it couldn't. I swapped side to side and it was a driver side dependent issue. So we swapped back to halogen, brought to the dealer and the replaced some module that powers the headlights.
Fast forward a bit, I called DDM to explain this to them and they said the car requires their relay kit so power is drawn from the battery as well so it doesn't rely fully on the vehicle's headlight wiring harness. We are a little skeptical on re-installing but I ordered the relay kit and plan on doing so. Think I'll run into any issues or does my original issue sound like it could have been avoided with the required relay harness in line?
Thanks,
