Okay just like the title says I have a 2014 Q50 Hybrid Sport and I want to put a fairly high powered sound system in. The hybrid models do NOT have an alternator rather the 12v Battery basically gets its charge when needed by the Lithium Battery. I don't want to put any unnecessary strain on the Lithium Battery ($1500 used) so I was thinking since the Q50 Hybrid has the same engine (V6 3.5L VQ35HR) as a few other models most notably the 2010 M35x would it be POSSIBLE to take an alternator with bracket and tensioner (of course) and install it in my Q50 Hybrid? My brother does electrical on cars all day so I'm not worried about the wiring... since the alternator will ONLY be used to feed a second 12v battery which will power the amp(s) the wiring will be simple. if ANYONE has done this mod already PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know or if there are some experts here who know if its plausible!!! otherwise Im just going to buy the alternator and misc parts and dive right in.

wait until your warranty is over, this will void it immediately, but this sounds like a pretty crazy DIY project.

still got another year or so left on the warranty.... I dont think I can wait that long... I need bass NOW!!!
