so I have had my 2014 pathfinder for 2 weeks the miles till empty and the gas gauge are not reading properly.. first time I noticed it was exactly one week after purchase, the miles till empty was showing 15 miles and fuel gauge at 0 when randomly the miles till empty jumped to 120 miles and fuel gauge was now showing half tank... so I kept driving and it was fine.. when it got close to empty I filled the tank... to $50 bucks total... weird cause the 2012 Altima was around $65 anyway while driving to work the next day about a 5 mile ride one way.. the gauge dropped from full to half and lost 60 miles.. I know its hard to pay attention to the gauge while driving but if u do it jumps all over... today I took it to Nissan. the tech is a friend who said he had one last week also but CND so he sent her on her way, but since I was also complaining he decided to call Nissan tech line... well what he told me next infuriated me... the tech line rep first asked why he was calling on a vehicle with only 400 miles.. then said they are aware of the problem but do not have a fix yet... he stated that there is an issue with the miles till empty screen but not the gauge... well correct me if I am wrong but the sending unit tells the ecu how much fuel is in the tank which also tells gauge where to read.. then the ecu makes a guestamite to how may miles till empty... so if the gauge is all over the place along with miles to empty. makes me believe that the sending unit is not working properly. Then before the tech got off the phone with tech line, the rep said specifically not to order any parts due to no CEL light being on.. im sorry but to me this is a safety issue.. if the gauge reads we have enough fuel while driving, but it doesn't cause the sending unit is reading improperly, we then run out of gas and get rear ended. who takes responsibility? I just got off the phone with Nissan consumer affairs and submitted a claim. should hear back tomorrow 2/27/2014
