I noticed that the passenger airbag light has been staying on and it ussualy happens when the cabin temperature is high like when you leave the car parked in summer temperatures. These sounds like the sentra recall my girlfriend is 150lbs so the system should not have issues reconizing her weigth. I'm calling the dealer to get this resolve. Let me know if there are some other owners having this issue

Yesterday mine came on, however I would say it was within the perimeters of reasons it would happen. I read the owners manual, and if you do not buckle yourseat belt or you are sitting in the seat improperly, it will turn off the airbag for safety. After I sat properly in the seat ( I had been fixing something for the kids in the back seat when my husband started the vehicle and started driving ) and buckled my seatbelt the airbag light remained lit. We had to stop the vehicle, park, and restart. The sensor reads on startup and will not reset until you re-start is what I am thinking. It explains most of this in the owners manual.

On many Nissan models including Rogue there used to be a recall for 2008 models due to faulty air bag sensor. I doubt that Nissan repeated the same mistake so this is probably something different (but who knows) and I would take it to the dealer.

I will pay attention next time someone sits. I think that i put the car on reverse before she buckled up the seat belt. It may be what you are saying that the sensor does not restart if you don't park the car and do like a reset on the system, since many system are interconnected to each other. I will verify this before going to waste my time to the dealer.

Thanks.

Have you tested this, or had it fixed? This has happened multiple times with my fiance and I, and I'm thinking of taking it in. I do notice, that I often start my car before she properly seated in the seat. I guess I will have to test that as well.

I have had it happen twice in the 6300 miles so far - after switch off/on the airbag indicator switched off (ie. It's detecting some weight on the passenger seat)

Bring it in, make them at least record the issue. The more people do this, the greater the chance of Nissan finding the root cause...

Hello,

I took the car to service like two or three months ago. i made them aware of the issue the ran son diagnostic test on the airbag. According to the report the did no find any issue. Now, since that day i have not seen again the problem, even with the current hot weather, for me is kinda suspicious that they ran a diagnostic did a reset and the problem as not happen again, i dont see any reason either for nissan to hide a possible problem. I could be a glitch that gets fixed with a reset a they don't know it.

My advice take it to the dealer let them know what going on, pretty sure that they will run a diagnostic and reset the system.

OFF TOPIC** what I or better say Nissan has not been able to fix is the darn service or maintenance millage on the driver information display it keeps resetting to zero every time that i turn off the car. I told this to the dealer and they are not able to find a service bulletin or software update.

The TSB is NTSB 14-067 - there is a software update for it, you need to be persistent but it exists and they can update it.

I'm also having an issue with the light. However, in my car it happens for no apparent reason. A passenger can be settled in and nickeled up prior to even starting the vehicle and after sometime of driving the light will go on even though the passenger did not move or unbuckle.
