Hello,

I backed into a pole and need a new bumper and the plastic on the light is busted. Does anyone have any idea what this will cost?

Thank you!

Hi Amberfreed, welcome to NICO Club!

Sorry about the bad news. I'd say thousands (like 2 or more), but that's just a guess. You can post pictures if you like. Here's instruction on how to do it (by the way, you don't have to sign in for it to work. you can just post images anonymously and then link them to your posts here).

There isn't a decent body shop out there that will give an estimate sight unseen as there could be additional damage that could increase the cost. That being said, centralcoaster33 was probably spot on. You're looking at a couple grand. You can take your vehicle in to any body shop for a free estimate, in fact you should get several. You are under no obligation to have them do the work just because they gave you a quote.

I had a similar replacement done years ago on another car. New bumpers usually run between $400-800, since they have to paint it and it depends if you want OEM or aftermarket/salvage. If the plastic on the light is cracked, you'll need a new assembly. That can run a few hundred dollars as well but if it's a LED light, you're talking at least $1k...

I'm assuming the reason you're asking is because your insurance doesn't cover the damage or you'd rather not turn it in.
There is a website called http://car-part.com/ that sells recycled car parts I did a quick peak at rear bumpers and some were less than
$200. If you look around you might even be able to find the correct color, which would be additional savings.
