Not everyone's cup of tea; I know.
I like to vouch for any rear tube protection. It was one of my first purchases, and I am happy to say that I never been rear-ended in the nearly 4 1/2 years of owning my Rogue. Yes, it may be ugly, but a scenario of getting tapped in a parking lot, seeing chipped paint on your back bumper, dents, or rear-ended. The ugly factor is not as bad. The first dent always sucks.
In my mind, I believe nobody wants to ruin their beautiful bumper on some round steel tube. It looks more serious than its bite, instead of a solid steel crowbar like pipe of steel, it's just a hollow decorative tube hoping to deceive folks that its tougher than it really is.
This is the reason I got the front protection ever since some A-hole in a truck happen to back up into my NEW front bumper and destroyed my license protector and chipped my paint. How hard is it to drive FORWARD out of a parking space folks??? I was parked behind facing their tail section. So yah, the pissed-off factor was another reason I got my Rogue surrounded by tubes.
I had to be pro-active at this point. Never been hit in the front or back since.
