Nissan Sport Sedan Concept: The next Nissan Maxima?
Image

"Nissan has become somewhat bipolar, producing a line of competent but uninspired mainstream offerings (Sentra, Altima, Pathfinder) on the one hand, and exciting or downright zany models on the other (GT-R, 370Z, Juke). However, there’s precious little cross-pollination between the two sides."

Nissan Sport Sedan Concept
Essentially a sneak peek of the next-generation Nissan Maxima, the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept manages to land in that sweet spot of show cars where it's futuristic enough to show design talent and serious enough to generate some excitement for the 2015 model.

I'm going to the auto show in Detroit (NAIAS) this coming Monday.

I'll be taking a nice camera with me.. Any picture requests? Anything special anyone wants to see a little closer?
IDX and new maxima concept will be definitely on my memory card.

Let me know if anyone has any special requests.

That Maxima is hideous except for the quilting and piping on the seats.

On top of it being hideous, i'm sure it'll end up with some combination of hybrid CVT bag of fail or the same crappy drivetrain it's had since 2006.

That new Maxima looks like a beaver.

Oh wait, I just remembered. I promised I'd stop giving a s*** what Nissan does anymore. Carry on.

And if Nissan tries again to market a FWD/CVT vehicle as sporty, I suspect Mr. Palmer will need to stock dealerships with plenty of this...

Infiniti Q30 Concept
According to Infiniti this isn’t a hatchback—it’s only one-third hatchback. The other two-thirds are coupe and crossover.
Although looks are obviously the Q30’s top priority, this coupe-crossover-hatchback also comes packed with tech to appeal to younger customers.

The highlights and lowlights of the 2014 Detroit auto show

Aki Sugawara: WORST Nissan Sports Sedan Concept
While not a hideous design, the over-styled creases, flares and flamed surfaces portend yet another Nissan Maxima that misses the mark. Here’s hoping the garish touches gets toned down for production — especially those LED headlights that look like a furrowed brow — and that it trims weight to live up to the "four-door sports car" moniker.

2015 Nissan 2015 GT-R
Image

2015 Nissan GT-R: On exhibit at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show is the new 2015 Nissan GT-R with significant updates to one of the most striking supercars in the market. Distinctive high-intensity, multi-LED headlights automatically adapts the angle of the light beam according to the speed of the car. At the rear, the GT-R’s distinctive four-ring taillights forms coherent circles of illumination. An optional carbon rear wing is offered, which is attached to a carbon trunk lid, giving a weight saving of half compared with the standard trunk lid. Visual appeal includes a new body color called Gold Flake Red that contains micropscopic gold-tinted glass flakes infused into the red paint. Thanks to the rigidity of the GT-R’s body construction, suspension precision is guaranteed while refinement is enhanced, resulting in exceptional cabin refinement even at high speeds and under hard cornering.

I suspect the Q30's paint will be a new trend for this decade.

Not a good trend, but a trend, kind of like how harvest gold was big in the late 90s.

I wish I could say I was impressed but the only car out of the whole lot I like costs way more than I could ever afford. Looks like the 3 is going to be a Million Miler.

"This Japanese car company’s executives blithely go along thinking they have it goin’ on is almost incomprehensible. The Nissan Sport Sedan Concept that’s said to telegraph the look and feel of the next Maxima was so hideous that it was shocking to behold. I know certain other publications – especially those that qualify as card-carrying members of the fawning, have-knee-pads-will-travel media – canonized this egregious piece of s*** as the greatest thing since sliced bread, but, really? It looked like a grade school kid’s fantasy drawing come to life, an amateurish vision bordering on the cartoonish."

The Renault KWID concept car to be displayed during the Auto Expo in Greater Noida, on the outskirts of New Delhi.

Image

The Renault KWID comes equipped with a "Flying Companion," somewhat reminiscent of the homing robot/drone Speed Racer had in his Mach 5. Operated by tablet from inside the vehicle, it can help find a parking spot, or give a bird’s-eye view of traffic (stinger missiles for clearing slow drivers are probably not available).
