2014 Armada towing capacity - HELPPPP!!

Im about to buy a used RV and the guy im buying from was nice enough to make sure our Armada could pull it. We have the tow oackage, and the class IV hitch says 10k lbs max and 1k lbs max tongue weight but this guy is telling me never to go w what the hitch says.....any ideas how much this thing will actually pull?

He's essentially right, you go by what the vehicle is capable of. If I were to put a class IV hitch on my 2012 Rogue, it still won't be able to tow more than the max of 1500 lbs. The hitch rating is the max the hitch itself can handle.
