Hello,
I am doing some research before making a purchase and hope the members, Rogue owners wouldn't mind answering a few questions.

We are either going to try and work a deal on a 2014 or 2015 depending on what the price would be when comparing apples to apples. It doesn't seem like much has changed from what I can tell. Does anyone know if there would be a substantial advantage in a 2015 model vs. the 2014??

My second question is about the CVT transmission. We live in hot sunny Florida and I have read the reports of earlier models having overheating/stalling issues. Has this issue been corrected on the newer models? Also has the transmission cooler been added as a standard option now?

One more thing, is there much difference in fuel mileage on the AWD vs. the FWD??

Any advice your willing to share would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

Your main dilemma was what I was dealing with. I was looking for a 2014 and they were few and far between for me and no dealer was willing to ship one in. Then I learned the 2015s were going to be released, so I waiting and when one became available near me (a little over an hour away) I got it. I'm glad I got the 2015 for one reason: seat warmers. If you're getting the SV trim, then the seat warmers will be really nice. Other than that, I there's an "Eco Boost" option in the 2015s (which I haven't used).

As far as I know, the transmission cooler isn't a standard option yet, but I hope it's been fixed! ;)

I remember the difference in the gas mileage between FWD and AWD was only a couple mpg overall? You might want to Google that to make sure I'm remembering it right!

The rogue is a nice vehicle very well equiped for the price, as mentined before the 2015 has seat warmers on the SV, and the eco feature that i think could be usefull specially at crusing speeds to help you out with the MPG's. In my own experience is hard for my to make the 32 mpg since i have a heavy right foot.

Nissan cvt's are some of the best ones in the market, just remeber nothing is 100% perfect. When you produce equipment is acceptable or expected that some failures could occurr and that's why there is an extended waranty till 120k milles or 10 years more than enough.

To give you a confidence boost, i took my altima to its 100k service. Never ever checked the ctv fluid before, 5 years driving over texas heat 100+ degrees almost year round and freezing winters when i lieved for over two years in west texas not to mention the dust in the area and the fluid as the CVT were flawless. Three summer trips to vegas, three to orlando and one winter trip to new york all the. With five persons and their luggage. No fail or safe modes ever triggered

In other words go ahead and get your rogue. Welcome in advance to the club

Forgive me if I'm wrong here, but I don't think the Gen 2 Rogues have the extended transmission warranty (at this time). I'd love to know if they do, so if I'm wrong please point me to something that states this.

Thanks for all the answers. We will be shopping around this weekend and the Rogue is on our short list.

From everything I have read the newer model Rogues have a 5 year 60,000 mile drivetrain/transmission warranty.

the model wont change from 2014 to 2015. will the 2015 come with added features? probably; but they will be minor. most often those are phone/radio related. maybe they will change the rims. maybe they will make the turn signal a diff color. otherwise the general exterior will stay the same.

the external transmission-cooler was standard issue only for models with paddle shifters. they stopped mounting them since.

the extended warranty doesnt cover 2011+ models.

the over heating issue has not been truly resolved; at least it has not been announced or addressed so that people know about it. lowering the transmission fluid & keeping the fluid cool via the OEM radiator is really the only thing that has helped. maybe a better OEM radiator is now used, but i doubt it.

the mpg difference is something you can find on nissan's website. usually its 1-3mpg's difference. not something you will notice. everyone's driving is so different, that its impossible to compare 2 cars, with 2 different driving styles/commutes.

all the other advice or tips can be found by searching this site. good luck.

Correct,

I did no t verify the info before posting it. The Extended Warranty only cover vehicles equipped with CVT from 2003-2010. However i believe that 60K or five years is more than enough to any quality issue to show up, and be corrected.
