I have just gotten the transmission replaced because of the stepper motor code, garage said transmission was toast. That’s neither here nor there, already done. Before I took it onto the repair shop I did a once over and noticed an oil leak and it appeared like it was going to be the rear main seal so I told them once they get in there to go ahead and replace it if it is intact leaking. RMS was good and he told me the valve cover was the culprit of the leak. I think I’m going to tackle this job on my own, I typically do all my own car repairs except the transmission was out of my wheelhouse as far as physical help and access to it without a lift. I’ve done valve covers on other engines without issue. However, it appears that you have to take off the engine Mount on passenger side that will allow the engine to drop, is there a trick to get the engine to hold still or preferred jack point to lift it/hold it in place? I think I’m going to replace the whole cover rather than just the gasket, when I’m looking up parts the cover seems to go from 08-12 and my 2013 is separate, I thought these were the same engines. If anyone else has done this please let me know if any lessons learned. Thanks!

Put a floor jack under the oil pan with a piece of wood. The other mounts will hold it with the nose mount disconnected and the pan supported. Get the right Nissan OE part number by plugging your VIN into NissanPartsDeal.com, then use the Nissan p/n for googling (RockAuto has a very nice Part Number Search tab).

Thanks for the info. Looking at the site you provided 13264-JG30C is the part number I need and appears to show the same for all the previous years as well. I see some reasonably priced non Nissan sellers out there that include the gasket, cover and PCV.

You're most welcome. Yep, Nissan EPC shows that number fitting all gen1 Rogues from '12~'15. NissanPartsDeal's database is the same as EPC because they're a consortium of Nissan dealers with access to the database. So unless a part has a "service file" or some other confusion, what NPD shows you for your VIN is exactly what your ride was built with. Eminently useful, especially when looking for electrical parts.

Vis aftermarket, I've had perfectly good luck even with cheap eBay rocker covers as long as the p/n matches.
