Hello everyone,

I am a newbie and have a question about cleaning out the throttle body. I know that there is a procedure to reteach the acceleration but I would like to know how complicated it is in a scale of 1-10. Also what kind of cleaner did you use to clean it.

My issue was that I had a check engine light for MAF sensor. I bought one from Autozone which there brand is Duralast. After replacing it, did not change any symptoms. I then purchased the MAF sensor from the dealership, which by the way cost $350!! It worked fine for a day but there was still a stutter from the engine and spoke to a mechanic friend and told me to clean the throttle body. Here I am now looking for advice.

If the code was a P0101 then there's a bulletin for it, NTB16-027. It needs a TB cleaning and an ECM reprogram. If your PCV Valve is orange in color then it also needs to be replaced. The idle air relearn (IAVL) would be done as part of the ECM repro. Sorry to say, you probably wasted your money on that MAF.

Thanks for the reply. I figured that buying a new MAF would help but I will try the ECM repro. I just finished cleaning it now I am going to reteach now. If you know of a link or video to share that would be awesome. I am researching now.

By reprogramming I don't mean an IAVL, which you're about to do. I mean the entire ECM flash program needs to be updated. You can't do that yourself, only a dealer or repair shop with access to the Nissan dbase can do it.
