After starting when attempting to put it into drive or reverse it will stall. If the rpms are increased a bit and then gear changed it won't stall. When slowing down coming to a stop it wants to stall out but usually manages to stay running.

After driving for a bit/warmed up, it runs much better and no more issues.

My thoughts on possible causes:

- IAC and/or MAF sensor
- Torque convertor and/or solenoid (I dont get the lurch when it stalls so I am hoping this isn't it)

Your theories about cover it. I'd check for crap in the MAF first and do an IAVL to recalibrate it. If that doesn't help, then investigate other things.
