Hi Guys, thanks for the welcome. I am making a new thread about the Sunroof irregularity I notice on my new 2013 Rogue, as I thought it would not be suitable to post it in the introductions thread. I have taken some pictures from both sides. I'll post the first two pictures where you can actually see the gap between the trim and sunroof and the last two pics of the driver's side where the trim is nice and flush with the sunroof.

Thanks for adding the pics. Looks to me like a poor finish job, probably somebody wanted to knock off work early. Dunno if it's something the dealership can correct, but I'd at least bring it to their attention.

Thanks for the input, the dealership I bought from are kind of anal. I felt their attitude changes once you sign the dotted line and pick up the vehicle. They seemed all nice and genuine before delivery but during delivery I felt rushed. A few minor things that I bought to their attention they just kind of brushed them off saying "oh that's nothing". For example, after delivery I noticed a few minor clearcoat scratches inside the right rear door on the paint which they could of easily buffed out but they just try to get out of it by not even acknowledging them. So I doubt they will do anything about this.

Can others with sunroof please look at the pics and compare that if they also have this slight finishing anomaly, if it's common across the board I might just not even bother taking it back to the dealership, knowing they probably won't do anything about it.

I got a very small stone chip within a week of buying the Rogue on my hood and they are so cheap, they charged my for the touch up pen. Even though I asked them to give it for free, I just spent close to 25K on this thing and they can't include a 15 dollar touch up pen?

I called the service department at the dealership and they will take a look at it on Monday. Let's see how it goes, hopefully it's something they'll be able to fix. The service manager did mention something about clips for the headliner when I mentioned to him what the problem was.

Hi Guys, here's the update. I went to the dealership today to get this problem fixed. What a nightmare. I don't think I've ever seen such worst service. This is my first visit to their service department, what a joke. So, I go in and let the service adviser who's name is Rob know that I have an appointment, no greeting, nothing, he's giving me this weird look, so, I take the initiative and say hi, how are you to him. Than he says: "we went through your Rogue with fine tooth comb what is it now", I'm kind of taken aback with his comment. Is this how to deal with a customer who spend close to 25 grand at your dealership. So, I tell him that I am there for a reason and proceed to tell him about the sunroof headliner problem, I asked him to follow me and take a look, so he comes out and takes a look and goes to fix the issue, it was a simple matter of pulling on the trim and putting it in it's place. I had a couple of other things I wanted to bring to his notice, there are some blemishes on the paint on the roof and a couple of places have what looks like streaks, it seems like a problem that most likely originated from the factory. So, he takes a look and says they will have to wet sand it and polish it and see if it goes away. I start to ask him that won't that rub out the clear coat and might cause more problems as the defect looks more like it's under the clear coat. Than he says oh, don't worry we have professional detailers that will take care of it. He than proceeds to take the car to his detailing department, an hour or so later, he calls me in saying they just washed the car and the more experienced guy wasn't there so I would have to come back again, he gives me a card of an auto body shop and tells me to go there and they will take pictures of the defects and send the pics to him. This place is about a block away, so, I go there and when the guy from there comes out to take the pics, him and myself noticed that in the washing process they have put some pretty nasty scratches on the clear coat. There was one one the back left door, very visible and could be felt with his nail and another on the right front fender, plus scuff marks on the rear bumper, probably when he was inspecting the roof paint blemish. The guy at the auto body shop advises me to go back and let the dealership know of the scratches they made. I get back to the dealership, Rob comes out, I show him the scratches, and he's totally brushing off everything, his explanation is that because it's a darker color, everything stands out. and he starts rubbing the scratched areas with the cuff of his shirt maybe trying to buff them out. When I tell him that's not a good idea, he starts explaining to me his credentials and how long he's been here at the dealership. This guy is so out of it. I can't believe they have people like that working in the service department. Very bad service and complete unprofessional-ism. So, basically I think these guys want to try to wet sand the defects out which I don't think will happen. These people are very unprofessional and going by their behavior it doesn't seem like they really care. You get the feeling that once the sale is done they really don't want to see you back there unless it's for service work where they will make money.

What should I do now? As much as I would like to deal with the same dealership where I bought the Rogue, I am not comfortable going back to them because of their arrogant and rude behavior and also complete unprofessionalism. Basically these half brains can't properly wash a car without scratching and his idea of buffing out a scratch is to use his shirt cuff, how can I trust these guys wet sanding the thing. It's like the day I went to take delivery of this car their whole attitude and service went downhill. Everything is rush rush rush, and if I have a concern they just brush it off.

Hey, I just saw this thread. I have a 2013 Rogue also, and I have noticed a small gap on the passenger side of sunroof. I'll try fidgeting with the trim piece to see if I can make a difference. If not, I'll take it to the dealership where I feel comfortable.

Speaking of which, you should definitely find a service department where you feel comfortable. I have a Nissan dealer in the town where I live. However, they are sooooooooooo bad on both the sales and service side. So, I bought the Rogue (and had the first service completed...because it was free!) at a dealership about 30 miles away. The distance is more than worth the added time/inconvenience required. For future routine maintenance, I will use an ASC certified shop in town that I trust.

That gap was actually a very easy repair, just a matter of pulling on the plastic trim and putting it in it's place, took less than a minute. However, I would still take it to the dealer, so if they break anything they are responsible. It's brand new under warranty, don't do it yourself. Let them fix it.

Where I bought my Rogue from, they gave me two free oil changes, but I'm hesitant to take it there now, seeing first hand the incompetence of the service department. I paid a body guy I know 100 bucks to buff out the scratches, they are hardly visible now, only if you look real close. This is a very thankless dealership. It's like they don't want to see you after they made the sale and you have picked up the vehicle. Not a good way to get repeat customers.

The power of the internet will help you get some satisfaction. Leave a nice write up on Yelp. Then there's the BBB and even their online Yellow pages listing that you can leave comments on. While you're at it, I'd fire off a letter to Nissan Corp., just to see if it ruffles any feathers. It still amazes me that when other companies try hard to retain a loyal customer base, many car dealerships still treat people like this.

Oh, and go back to the dealership and demand to speaker to the service manager, and tell him what transpired, and that you expect to be reimbursed for the work you had done at the outside body shop. Just remember to stay cool, but don't back down.

I actually ended up calling the service manager after I got home, I was so frustrated. He turned out to be an even bigger prick than the first guy. He basically said I'm free to take my car to a different dealership for repairs and was unapologetic about the scratches, he basically denied seeing any scratches. There were scratches on the car but there were also scratches on my rear bumper, I think these happened because the first guy who was inspecting the paint blemish on the roof of the car was not careful and rubbed his shoes into the bumper. Basically these people don't have iota of knowledge about how sensitive new car paint can be and how long it can take to get some of these scratches out which can be easily avoided if they are a little careful.
