Hi

I see there is already a thread for gas mileage, however it does not contains the information I am looking for.

I purchased a new 2013 nissan rogue. I started to notice the vibration coming from the steering wheel when i am under 40 miles per hour. Is this normal? what is causing it?

I have 35 more miles to go before I empty my first tank of gas. Currently i have about 300 miles on my rogue and my fuel economy is showing i am getting 20.4 miles per gallon. It was 20.1 before I started to watch the fuel economy gauge, doing my best to let the bar stay above 25 mark. Now i am getting 20.4. Why is my gas mileage so bad? (weather is is about 37 D F when I drive in the morning and night) I don't use ac or heat.

my family has two other cars and i drive them the same way and I was always able to get mileage between the factory rated city and highway miles.

welcome to the forum!

the vibration could be tire balance, or lack there of.

dont rate this car, against any other car in your family. every car is different. plus - MPG computers on the dashboards are not accurate to the T. they estimate. so 20.4 could really be 19, or 22. dont get so stressed over the exact number. do your own math. fill up the tank, clear the trip meter = and log the full thank till the empty-light turns on. see what you are getting then. because you could be getting AMAZING MPG's- and then you are idling the car due to the cold temps = which will reduce your ability to drive as many miles in total.

335 miles / 14 gallons (if you started slightly less than full) = 23.9mpg (average)
335 miles / 15 gallon tank = 22.3mpg (average)
335 miles / 16 (if you somehow started with 16 gallons crammed into your tank) = 20.9 (average)

You cannot gauge mpg's on one tank, especially your first one. Secondly, as you may have read elsewhere the gas and onboard mpg calculator are notorious for being inaccurate.

Thank you

I should have mentioned, my car had 21 miles on it when I purchased the car and I asked the sales person to top off the tank for me when I drove away.

I filled my tank today (with 35 miles remaining) it was little over 14 gallon. Does that mean I have a 15 gallon tank?

I will try to manual calculate the mpg this time, hope its better than what shown on my fuel economy screen.

We have a 2013 Rogue also. We get the vibration you mention also at around 40 mph. When it happens, if you accelerate or slow slightly, it goes away. At the first oil change the dealer was able to replicate it and says it's normal for the CVT. We were getting a consistent 25.4 mpg, but after the first oil change by the dealer it has been going downhill to a current average of 20 mpg at 5,900 miles. We also noticed the engine is very loud when passing a car or climbing a grade, "under load". I was blaming it on the oil change, but the oil is right on the mark. On a weekend trip to Niagara Falls, it drowned out the radio. We stopped at a Nissan Dealer and a tech went with me on a test drive. He said the engine was fine, it was the CVT causing the engine to rev high which could also account for our loss in MPG. They checked all the fluids, said the car was safe to continue with our trip and to bring it to our dealers attention. It goes in for the second oil change Jan. 9th, and I will advise them of the loss in mpg and high revving. It will probably all be normal also. I am hoping maybe they adjusted something on the first oil change that can be adjusted back ? We live in the mountains, and I am wondering if this CVT was the right choice ? The dealer is at the bottom of the mountain and they claimed this car was good for our use.

I went to the dealer couple times, and last time they adjusted my aliments, however it did not help with the vibration. I now have 850 miles on my car and I have already give up on the vibration issue.

Your MPG are still better than me even after the oil change. I though I was getting 20.2 MPG and though it was below what Nissan had advertised, imagine my surprise when I found out I was actually getting 16.6 MPG. I don't know how many gallons your tank hold but I think its same as my (15) since they are both 2013 model. Also I live in a cold climate with snow and temperature can go below 10*. Now sure about the weather where you live, since that can have a great affect on MPG.

The Fuel display that's telling you how you doing on gas is very very inaccurate on my rogue. If you want to find out what your really doing on gas per gallon. Fuel up a tank of gas and note how many gallons it took. Now clear either tripe A or B and see how many miles you got when your almost out of gas.

2013nissanrogue, how long do you have to let the vehicle warm-up with those cold temps?

i think you did it in the wrong order.
You should first reset trip meter on previous gas stop, put full tank in
Wait until next gas station visit, fill up until full tank, and use the trip meter and the amount of gas put in to calculate the mpg
If you do it the other way around, it will not be accurate because you can't really tell how much gas left in the tank even if they show up the same on the meter
