Guys, the weather was below freezing today, -8 degrees Celsius and while driving I noticed that when my left front tire goes over some bumps I am getting a clicking noise. I don't know where it's coming from, it could be from either under the dash or from under the hood, could be the strut. It's very annoying, not on every bump but most and mostly when the front left tire goes over a bump.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal, or should I take to the dealer. If there's simple fix for this I rather do it myself than take it to the dealer. My experience is that sometimes fixing little things they screw up other things in the process. I think it might of been there but very seldom not as frequent in warmer weather but it's quiet noticeable on not so smooth roads in this cold weather.

P.S. "could it be the hood latch that's mounted under the hood?" I have noticed that those things are not firmly in there "the plastic piece" it's kind of loose.

This morning I went out and took a look at the bolts that hold the strut to the body, I believe there are two 13mm and on in the middle which is 18mm. I had seen a video on youtube where a person with a Hyundai was getting a similar noise and his middle but was loose and tightening it up solved the issue. Upon checking mine it seems that the middle one "18mm" was tight and couldn't be turned however, the other two 13mm even though were pretty snug they could be turned a little with a 3/8 ratchet. So, I did end up tightening those up a little bit and afterwards took it out on a 20 minute drive and no more noise. I deliberately went over bumps and road imperfections with my front left wheel and there was no more of the noise that I was getting last night. So, hopefully the issue has been fixed, but, I'll definitely keep an eye on it.

I know this is a bit of a stretch, but can you now safely say you don't have a screw loose?

LOL! I guess I wouldn't say it was loose, they were pretty tight "snug" to begin with but I was definitely able to turn them a bit with my 3/8 drive ratchet. Who knows, it could also be that maybe because it was the first spell of cold and things were just adjusting and things settled down overnight. I'm just happy that noise isn't there.

Now, about the sideview mirror noise, I can't hear it while the windows are up, but it is definitely there and if doesn't go away by spring/summer I'll take it to the dealership for sure. For smaller things, I'm just inclined to fix them myself first, because I'm always a bit wary of taking it to the dealership service dept because they either will start throwing parts at it because it's another way for them to make money or they will cause other problems in the process. I want my Rogue to stay as close to original from the manufacturer as it can and if there is something that can't easily be fixed I'll definitely take it to the dealer.

Oh, forgot to mention I scored a really good deal on 5L 5w30 jugs of Valvoline conventional at Walmart for only 5 bucks a jug, got all 8 jugs on the shelf. This should be enough for at least 2 years of oil changes.

Oh I totally agree with you with this, at least for the dealer I went to (conicelli nissan).
I have my transfer unit replaced under warranty
After I receive my car back, ~10 clips that were holding the front bumper and wheel fender are missing. The screws that were holding the air intake box is missing. They mounted the exhaust brackets upside down which cause a loud noise (even the technician said they perform test drive and found the car to be "quiet"). The coolant reservior is empty and service guy said its suppose to(even the manual said it should be at full). (all those problem were fixed myself cause dealer refuse to admit that they misplace it except for the exhaust brackets because the technician actually told me in person that he made the mistake on that) Also, on acceleration, I can hear some metal vibrating noise, and can only be heard when windows open and driving next to some structure, meaning the sound is from under the car. I can't find the source of that because it only happen rarely, but when it happens, it sounds like metal grinding noise which scare me.

take it to the dealer and have the problem logged- this way if you crash due to a serious issue = you have your records.

Told the dealer about the problem on the phone and how the noise has been resolved now after tightening, but they said it could be a number of things, and to leave my car with them for a few hours, I declined because the noise isn't there anymore.
