I can't believe it, my Rogue is 3 months old with 3000 miles and Nissan says they have to replace the transmission ?!! Anyone ever heard of this before?

Thats a bummer, but since its under warranty, let 'em! Just make sure you get a loaner car for your troubles!

Also, could you tell us the symptoms and when you find out from them, what went wrong with the CVT?

This^. Definitely get the free loaner. Interesting that Nissan publicly proclaimed their problems with their notorious CVT's were fixed to the point they stopped extending the warranty on them. Guess you just proved them wrong. I hope the replacement solves the problem for you.

Must have been some poorly installed seal at the factory, no? Maybe it lost its fluid or was never properly filled during manufacturing?

What was your complaint for taking it in?

Most likely this is the case. Something somewhere went wrong and something wasn't working properly. They MIGHT have been able to fix the issue on the trans that you already have, but maybe they feared it would have reduced life or something.

"3 months in service" warranty is treated a little differently than anything past that. Within 3 months, it is more of an infant mortality type thing.
