After reading through some of the factory service manual sections HA and HAC, I see that Nissan has the air conditioning system very limited for DIY troubleshooting.

The air conditioning system runs a self diagnostic and stores diagnostic trouble codes. I'm not sure if an air conditioning DTC can be read with a scanner from your OBD2 connection and I'm guessing this type of DTC does not make your check engine light come on. From what I have read, some sensor and controller failures in the system will put the air conditioning system into a fail-safe mode, limiting what you can do to control the temperature until the failure has been fixed. Nissan's CONSULT diagnostic system, owned and operated exclusively by Nissan dealerships and licensed service centers, is the only way I see. from what I read, to figure out what has gone wrong. At an interior temperature of -22F (-30C) (I assume you are not posting from Antarctica) the only thing I would even attempt to look at is the in-vehicle sensor to see if it is putting out the correct voltage the manual indicates it should have for proper temperature readings. However, without Nissan's CONSULT diagnostic system, I would probably be wasting my time.
