I can't find instructions anywhere, hope someone here can help me out.

My Rack and Pinion is leaking and needs to be replaced. Dealer quote me 1500 for the fix.
Front two struts also needs to be replaced. Dealer quote me 1000 for the fix.
Front both side lower control arms needs to be replaced. Dealer quote me 970 for the fix.

I am looking for instructions on how to do all of those my self since I can't afford 3470 out of pocket but still need a safe car.

Please help me out. show me how to change Rack and Pinion, struts and control arms.

what tools do I need?

thank you so much.

At least you got a better deal than me on the cross arms.

I only did the front struts when I added strut spacers. But I didn’t do the cross arms because I had no time or patience. The rack & pinion video is from an x-trail which might help. I once removed my rear coils by watching a video on an x trail.

If you’re a young strapping fairly strong individual, you should be okay doing it by yourself. I’m an old fart and I have been modding and repairing my rogue for the last 12 years. I did let the stealership do a few repairs here and there, but I saved thousands upon thousands doing stuff myself. Good luck. :dblthumb:

The ESM is available here too. Here are links to the Steering and Front Suspension sections:

Order your own parts and find a shop that will just charge labor. I haven’t ever priced the rack but can tell you I did my front control arms on my 09 Altima, which I’m sure is the same give or take as on a rogue. Struts are easy as could be. You really shouldn’t need much more than a Jack, basic socket set and piece of pipe for the two repairs I listed. Although a strong cordless impact makes life much easier. A quick strut is ideal and mando is the supposed oem supplier and are sold at advance. I paid under $500 for quick struts and control arms and an alignment. I’d be sure the struts are actually bad though given the dealers prices. If your broke and need a car, suck out the power steering fluid and dump Lucas power steering fix in it and cross your fingers and motor on.

Well please show me a diagram where I can oil the rack, I love learning! I oil stuff all the time like the door joints, hood release, etc.

I have a need to keep my 12 yr old rogue in tip top shape. :naughty:

Some have grease, but all factory sealed. I know you'd love to mess with it, old son, but you can't. ;)

My 09 Altima has recently developed a slight clunk when turning the wheel all the way to the right and I fear it could be R&P related. You can bet I’ll be going to the salvage yard if so. I bought the engine from a 10 that was rear ended with 39k and it appears the have the rack as well for $75. Not sure how many hours of labor it calls for, but with no hoist it’ll be going to the shop for this one. Independent who charges no more than book time or actual if it’s less. Although they’ve never charged less.
