I just purchased a 2013 Murano S. Did not want the base model but received 7k in rebates and incentives. The on thing I feel I must have is Navigation. My question is 2 part. Is the screen in the S model the same screen that functions the Nav on the models equipped with Navigation? If so is there a unit to add just for Navigation I could install? If not if I replaced the radio unit with a GPS/NAV/DVD unit what should I be looking for and can I add the steering wheel controls aswell?

Thanks in Advance
Lawrence

Your best bet is to get a window mount GPS unit. The GPS unit alone is almost 5k not to mention the screen, wiring harness, antennas. I've actually priced a similar swap for a 12 Altima and it came to 16,000 to convert from base to bose w/nav. To use steering wheel controls with an aftermarket stereo you'll need a converter. BestBuy sells them for around $100. Keep in mind if you swap the stereo out you will lose access to the current screen and all the other options it has, such as fuel economy and maintenance. You may also run into some other issues, the AV unit is in constant communication with the ECM/TCM/BCM.

Technically speaking the conversion you're inquiring about is doable, but will be extremely expensive, and quite frankly not worth doing. Just purchase a GPS within the likes of Garmin and call it a day. Your next cost-effective alternative is to have an DD indash navigation unit custom built into your Murano. This type of install would be significantly cheaper than converting your existing setup to an OEM set-up.
