Just recently added the uprev tuner to my 2013 37S and I am not seeing the throttle response I expected. When I run it with the ETC disabled it feels strong but with the UPREV tune it seems flat.

Question is has anyone perfected the throttle mapping for the the models or have a base line I could go off of? I read some posts on the G and 370 forums but not sure if I should try them on the M.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Twin.

Did you have a previous M car before the M37??

I'm asking because I want to know how the M37 engine compares to the M45? Has anyone driven all three (M45, M37, M56) and can give an honest opinion on their engines performance?

I love my M35, but it needs more umph... To get the power I want, upgrading cars is the only option I will go with, because I can't see investing money into numerous parts to achieve the additional power that I want.

I have never driven the M45 or the M56, but i have some seat time in the M37 and it felt good. But I have nothing to compare that to except my M35.

Is it that the M37 is not adequately powered, the reason for adding the UPREV?

I have a 35 and its pretty quick, but I understand what you're saying. You want a little more bang when you're ready to launch. If that's the case, look no further than the M56. I drove one from the dealer one time and OH MY !!! The Oh s*** factor is serious. It is hands down the fastest car I've ever driven. You should go test drive one for yourself.

I like my M45, it definitely had a little more low end torque that the M35 was missing when I test drove both.
Haven't driven an M37 or 56, but would be interested in what the new Q50 is going to be like.

TwinsDad, you should PM Seymore4 to see if he has had any M37 owners sending him data logs.
He's helped several M45 owners with a street tune and I think they've been pretty happy with the results.

I haven't pulled the trigger on an Osiris unit, but when I do I'll be hitting up Seymore4 for street tune data.

I have driven my inlaws m45 and that is what pointed me to the m37. I think the 37 is better than the 45, but no comparison to the 56. The one I drove at the dealer was a beast. I just couldn't spend another 8k for it.

As far as UPREV I am looking for a little more punch of the line. Also have plans to fabricate a custom y pipe. I had it on my Titan and it made a huge change.

Definitely want to hook up with seymore, just don't have enough posts to pm him.

Right now I have ETC turned off and timing bumped up. Seems to feel better but nothing but a butt dyno.

cool, cool.

I'm hoping to get a test drive in on the 56S next week when i'm back in town. I have heard good things referenced to the 37, but at the same time I don't want to be left wanting a little more later.

Are you, to your knowledge, the only one on the forum with UPREV done to an M37?

@ OP,

I wonder if your car is in 'learning mode'... have you opened up your car and taken it through the gears and high rpms? just curious to find out...

...I just got my car re-tuned this past Saturday...after taking off the hi-flow cats and modified stock mufflers, then putting on the new Megans and stock cats - I felt that my car was not running properly...possibly running rich... after the tune, the a/f ratio is within specs (12.79) and the car is running strong through the power band... 275whp/253wtq. I drove about 20 miles after the tune to wake up the car and shortly after it responded really well. It's Tuesday and I took the car out for a quick run, off the line it's great and on the fwy it pulls nice...

if you guys are really looking for a car with more power and is affordable, I would test out the CTS-V (2010 to 2012) and you can get a good price on a power plant!! I drove one on Saturday (thanks to my tuner allowing me to drive his for a quick pull)....DAMN!! He has the 6spd manual and while in 3rd he said "ok now punch it"....it pushed me back into the seat......yes, trust me...I've been in some fast cars, but this was very deceiving....he's going to tune it, add headers, etc and it should be 700hp, easy.... but stock with supercharger, it's pretty amazing... 40K....just a thought...

I may keep the M and pick up the CTS-V for a weekend car

I have run her through the rpm's many times.

I think I was just expecting more from the throttle tuning. I just want to be able to hammer the throttle and have it react, not just wait to do it when it feels like it.

With ETC off it does that but I really enjoy cruise and the rev matching so I don't keep it turned off.

Did you feel a notable difference with the intake spacer?

when I'm driving in manual mode, that's when the engine comes alive  From a take off in 1st all through the gears (I only have 5spd auto) the M is really fun to drive. Driving in auto mode, the car still has guts but not as much as in manual mode. For example, with traction control off and in manual mode, I can do 0-60 runs at 5.3 to 5.5 seconds consistently.

As far as the plenum spacer (I went with the 5/16 spacer from Motordyne) and yes, there is very noticeable HP. I think it's the best bang for the buck...from that platform, I only added the z-tube and Mrev2 (modified lower plenum) and kept the stock air box....

I think our cars really improve once the exhaust system is opened up...

what other mods do you plan on doing?

Seymore4 may have more insight for you regarding your tuning inquiries...he's very knowledgable but not sure if he's tuned the new M's or not...

Regarding Uprev on M35, my experience:
1. Added the MRev 2 and the 5/16 plenum spacer
2. Added the Injen CAI.
3. Post install of bolt on parts, UPREV tune done!
I have not noiced difference off the line, but noticeable change at speed, especially on the freeway and give it a punch, feels great!
By the way, was able to drive the Q50 last week(officially, was not allowed to test dive it, due to local ban on test drives, but dealer allowed me to drive on local streets, no freeway). The engine has some serious get up and go, but the coolest tech upgrade is the drive by wire steering, rock solid!
Love live the M!

Hey guys sorry for not chiming in sooner. Been busy busy busy...

First of all lets make it clear the the M35 is a completely different beast than the M37. Mods that work for the 35 (VQ35DE, same as the G35) have no direct relevance to the M37 (VQ37VHR)...its a completely different platform.

The throttle mapping is much more tricky and there's no simple solution like with the older models, its just trial and error. Even if you get the throttle map completely optimized its still not going to be the noticable difference that you get right off the bat with the M35. Its a very common complaint among the G37/370z guys...

I haven't tuned any M37's but have done a bunch of G37/370z's :wavey:
