My transfer case has a bad knocking sound, drive shaft has a bad wobble and the rear carrier wobbles too.
1) is there any computer re-programming involved in exchanging the transfer case or rear carrier?
2) is this a job that can be tackled at home? I'm mechanically inclined, not an amateur at working on cars but not a mechanic. I have jack stands, floor jacks and a good set of hand tools.
Can't afford "new parts" will have to rely on used parts.

Any other suggestions welcomed.

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

I do not believe reprogramming will be necessary as these are mechanical parts. You're not changing the computers, etc.

As for if you can handle the work at home, I suggest looking through the Factory Service Manuals available on this site to see if you feel up to it or not. You can use the link in my signature to get most of the way there.
