Hey guys,
I'm hoping someone can probably tell me whats happening here before I go to the dealer and they tell me its a bigger problem than it actually is.
So if i'm driving on the high way, lets say about 60mph, and I have to brake for whatever reason, when I press the brake pedal strongly, the engine revs up for some reason. What is happening here? Its not natural. Is it normal? After a quick google, I'm getting things like the master brake cylinder may be leaking fluid into the power brake booster.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Vinny.

This is normal. It's called "rev matching". Typically you see this when ripping it up some canyons roads...the car knows to keep you in a better gear and rev matches as opposed to staying in gear and 'lugging' the motor out of a corner. I love the feature. Although I usually spend my time in M mode so I control gear changes myself.

Were you driving aggressively just before this happened? Are you in 'sport' mode?

yes, it seems to happen more in sport mode. IF i'm in standard or snow, it doesnt happen enough to the point that i notice it. Wow, I cant believe this is a normal feature. So this is normal? Wow

yes, its automatically downshifting under braking to keep you in the powerband and assist with braking. it is only programed to do this in sport mode. if you dont like it keep the car in normal or eco.

I love this feature. I personally drive, even spiritedly, with one hand but if I was a two hand driver, this would even be more welcomed as it would allow the car to stay in optimum power making gear throughout each bench on the backroads without you having to move one arm to shift or control manual mode.

There was a TSB for this too for a transmission software update:

ITB12-027
If you experience any of the following, go get your car reprogrammed by the dealer:
1. Harsher than expected down shifts when coasting to a stop.
2. Hesitation/lag when accelerating after coasting.
3. Hesitation/lag or harsher than expected down shifts when coming to a stop and accelerating again (rolling stop).
4. Engine rev matching during moderate to heavy braking.

Again, some of them were doing it in Normal and Eco mode. If you are one of these people then reference the ITB above.
