"Nissan is conducting a voluntary safety recall of certain 2013 Infiniti JX35 luxury crossovers over a fuel system problem that could cause inaccurate fuel gauge readings....The vehicle may unexpectedly run out of gas and stall, even though the fuel gauge may read that the tank is full. This increases the risk of a crash."

This is actually a very scary situation!

What if you hopped into someones car (stolen, borrowed or whatev; I'm not judging) and the tank said full.

While going down the highway 75+mph and the engine stalls. You only get a couple presses of the brake pedal before the brake booster stops working. (assuming they still use vacuum boosters)

Its actually one of three recalls out right now theres that one, theres one for the backlight of the instrument cluster and one for the intelligent brake assist, the two other are just reprograms, the fuel gauge one is really stupid, you take the rear seat move it out the way of pull the pump and move the transfer hose above the pump so the fuel level sender cant actually sit on the hose and give the false reading

All these new models having hell of issues. Nothing tickles me more than seeing brand new cars with a dead tail or headlight while I'm in one of my two old Q's, not replacing bulbs...I only replaced ONE bulb in my 92 since I bought it in 2007 and that was in the 3rd brake light....It's going to be hard for me to fall for anything else...I love my Q's.

I just got my JX35 about a month ago, it rolled off the assembly line late July, mine is flawless. Not a single rattle or squeak, I am not having any of the issues that may have been present in the first run of JX35 models.

Funny what they consider dangerous enough to warrant a recall. Early Q45 timing chain guides that can self destruct, scramble an engine, and leave you stranded in the middle of the interstate... no problem. Fuel gauge? Gotta get it back in... but they've quibbled over VIN ranges on the 05-07 Pathfinders and Frontiers that have had failures for years. It all seems kind of arbitrary.

Just the Facts:

Nissan is recalling 7,842 Infiniti JX35s because of a fuel gauge problem that may cause the vehicle to stall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The fuel gauge does not accurately show when the tank is becoming empty, said NHTSA.
The recall is expected to begin September 4.

WASHINGTON — Nissan is recalling 7,842 Infiniti JX35s because of a fuel gauge problem that may cause the vehicle to stall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"Due to an assembly issue, the fuel transfer tube may be misrouted inside the fuel tank," said NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem. "As a result, the fuel level float may be prevented from dropping as the fuel is consumed and the fuel gauge may read a fuel level higher than actually exists. If the fuel gauge does not accurately show when the tank is becoming empty, the vehicle may run out of gas unexpectedly, stalling, and increasing the risk of a crash."

Nissan told federal safety regulators that the problem was discovered through an unspecified number of "field reports."

The affected vehicles were built from February 15, 2012 through June 22, 2012. Infiniti dealers will re-route the fuel transfer tube and install a new O-ring. The recall is expected to begin on September 4. Owners can contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

Separately, NHTSA is still in the process of investigating an estimated 8,000 2013 Infiniti JX35s because of "false application of brakes."

No recall has been issued in that probe at this point.

Inside Line says: If you own a 2013 Infiniti JX35, you'll have to wait until early September when parts become available to get your vehicle fixed.

It goes by build date. Just be thankful you didn't buy an e46 BMW 3 series that had the rear subframe ripping free from the unibody. BMW adamantly denied any wrong doing and had to be sued by a class action suit to do anything.

Just be thankful you didn't go German fellas.
