2013 EX

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

KBB has a nice write-up on the 2013 EX. I'm glad I have the 7 speed too. But I don't have the 3.7 liter. Oh well lol. I was at my dealer the other day. I love the coco brown leather offered now.

Me too - that new interior is GORGEOUS.

Which interior did you get on your EX?

But still referred to as Chestnut. No change in color choices. Still very limited in that regard. And I would bet you may not be sure of what color you might get if you ordered a car. I can't understand why Infiniti will not sell a wheat or a Chestnut interior on their Gray or Silver cars. Just doesn't make sense. The Gray leather interior seems so dull to me. And my other criticism is that a customer that wants a loaded automobile MUST buy the 19" 5 spoke 45 series wheels, which IMO are very unappealing. As I have said many times, Infiniti treats their most beautiful family member like a red headed step child. I wish Lexus was selling this car they would offer it up in any permutation or combination the customer wanted and it would be a huge success.

Gotta agree with DDS. When I bought my '03 G35 6MT, I wanted Diamond Graphite with Wheat interior... they were ALL black interiors.

I had to go to Atlanta to get mine - from Arizona.

There were some great color combinations offered during the first three years of the EX model intro - you could have your choice of wheels also. They slammed the door on customer choices with the 2011 model year. In 2011 they originally came out with the garage door opener, I believe, offered only with the Tech package, meaning you would have to order a loaded car in order to open the garage door - but they back peddled on that obvious mistake and put it in the premium package. I think it is now standard.

The 2011 EX Homelink (garage door) system was part of the grand touring package. Coming from a G37 where that and dirver memory functions were part of the premium package or were stock on the base model, it felt like a rip off to buy this additional package on a luxury car when Homelink was a low cost option on my 2001 Highlander. Still, I admit I do like the minor upgrades that came with it. Having had both a G37 and EX 35 I am dissappointed that Infiniti waited so long to put the 3.7 engine in. It is much more powerful and gets the same gas mileage (or maybe even better). That being said, I do think the 3.5 is a smoother engine. I think the 7 AT is smoother on the EX as well, but less sporty, and I really miss the paddle shifters, thigh extenders and adjustable side boolsters on my S model. Noiw, if only they would put the hybrid engine from the M in (and price it reasonably) I would consider upgrading.

Coming from a 2011 G37S coupe myself I hear you on the 3.7, the paddle shifters, and thigh extenders. My loaded EX has tons of mods to butch it up (see my other posts) ...and i'm thinking of doing the paddle shifters. They are only about 280 on Ebay...i just have to finalize the install. I know it has been done on FX's.

On the My G37 site there were a number of people who bought a stock kit from a specific Infiniti dealer. I don't remember which one, but I am sure you can find the posts. They were pretty easy to install. I have asked whether folks think the EX can be upgraded, but the prevailing wisdom was that the unlike the G, the EX steering column is not prewired for shifters, because there is no package that offers them. I would love to be proved wrong on this. If you try it and are successful, please share.

I will try and find the other post i found - here, MyG37 or InfinitiScene (can't remember) where they did the paddle upgrade. I think they had to buy a single plug in wire that rus from the steering column to the transmission housing.

when i find it i'll post it.

I find this Interior to be very appealing on the Showroom Floor... but a nightmare to maintain in the real world.

Amen for Ebony leather and carpet!!

parkstr8r - I miss my paddle shifters from my RDX and my steering wheel button shifters on my IS300 badly. I would LOVE to know if this is possible for our EX's. Please let us know if you figure that out!!!

That's because your not a girl like I am EXceptional... :inoutgay:

I love my delicately colored interior. A more rough-and-tumble color like black or blue would be easier to maintain of course.

I looked for a fully loaded white EX with gray interior (due to the same fears of hard to maintain lighter colors) and gave up for the "harder to maintain" light tan I have now and apart from having a small towel to sit on to prevent my jeans (or other clothes) from bleeding into the leather and using the best leather products to clean regularly every month or so...

I'M LOVIN IT. :dblthumb:

Goes sooooo well with the woodgrain trim around the cabin.
