2013 air system stuck in fresh air mode

I noticed when I got my 2013 Quest that the recirc system always let in stinky air from traffic. I've finally had enough of it and want to get it fixed. My dealer is unfamiliar with it and wants to keep it over night. If anyone can point my in the right direction I would like to take a look at it myself. Or at least know if the problem is likely to be loose vacuum tube, out of sync stepper motor or anything I can check on myself?

Don't know your model well, but the air is usually redirected to different vents via an actuator of some kind in the dashboard. These usually clack-clack first before finally giving out. The one on the older Quests go for less than $30 on ebay and you need to remove the glove compartment to get to it. Another culprit could be the switch itself, if you can somehow test it without tearing the van apart too much.

Thanks. I found the part on ebay and watched some videos on replacing it. They all said they were hearing clicking which I am not. I will do some more experiments with it to see if I can narrow it down. I'm kicking myself for not taking it in under warranty. It was one of those things I was always going to do but would forget about it the minute I got home.
