Just want to share the observation. I had a 2009 Rogue SL for 3 years and switched to a 2012 SL model 3 months ago. Have been tracking gas consumption on Fuelly on every fill up. The 2009 averaged 10.6L/100km over the 58000km. The 2012 averaged 9.4L/100km over the first 6000km. While not a scientific comparison, both were driven by same person, living in the same place, same usage and routine, and driving at the same pace.
I think this is quite an improvement from Nissan considered that they are basically the same design and same engine. I think the major save came from the much refined CVT as the 2012 model consistently keeping a lower rpm for a given speed.
