Nissan North America has issued a recall for the 2012 Nissan Versa. At issue is a flaw in the vehicle's transmission that could cause a collision with other vehicles or injury to pedestrians.

According to a bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, some Nissan Versas from the 2012 model year may experience interference between the shifter rod and the shifter knob. In these vehicles, a driver might be able to shift the car out of park without depressing the brake pedal. Depending on the location of the car at the time, that could cause the Versa to roll into another vehicle or a pedestrian, potentially resulting in serious injury.

The problem affect Versas with automatic transmissions that were manufactured between June 9, 2011 and January 13, 2012. In all, some 36,608 vehicles are affected by the recall.

Great -- and I'm driving a loaner 2012 Versa while My Xterra is in the shop.

Note to self -- try not to forget to depress the brake pedal before putting the vehicle in gear. Should be easy to remember, since I'M NOT A COMPLETE F*CKING MORON. And tonight when I get home I can write "TGIF" on the tops of my shoes so I don't forget that "Toes Go In First".

Seriously, if you are trying to put your car in gear while your foot is off the brake, you should be less worried about your transmission and more worried about your EEG results.
