My wife's Rogue S FWD is right at 49000 miles and this is the first problem we have had with it. We had traveled about 50 miles on the interstate and my wife commented that the transmission was whining louder than normal. We got off on our exit, and stopped at a red light. When the light turned green, I hit the gas and the car died. For about 45 seconds I tried to get the car to restart, but even though I had battery power the car just made a low growling noise instead of turning over. After what seemed like an eternity, the car started and ran as if nothing had happened. It was not overly hot outside, the temp was around 80 degrees. The battery connections are tight and the battery checks out. No CEL lights came on and except for the whine before it shut down which went away, you would never know anything had happened.
Any ideas?
