Hey guys! First post here. Just got my 2012 Nissan Rogue today and so far I really like it. I was just wondering though, is the USB port ONLY for iPod/iPhone interface? When I tried connecting my Droid 3 by USB, I changed the phone to "USB mass storage" and the car didn't recognize it. When I changed the phone to "Charge only" the car did recognize I had a USB plugged in, but then that sign went away.

I also tried connecting it with my sister's iPod touch, and that worked fine. My question is, is it possible to play audio through the USB for Android phones? I know there's an AUX port there too, but I just wanted to clarify and see if I'm doing something wrong. I just thought it would be cool if an Android phone would work with the USB.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

**Forgot to mention it's an SV with the SL package Rogue.

That could be true that unit does not support android phones. Personally I switched from iphone to android in 2010 but always felt that android market is left behind. Iphone users always get support 1st then everybody else. Pioneer for example started to support android only this year but iphone had no problems to connect for a few years already. The problem I believe in android system is a port that is not commonly used by headunits. So now most likely you'll have 2 options: 1. Wait for firmware update (no estimate in time) 2. Upgrade to a different/aftermarket unit of your preference brand.

You'll have to clarify what you mean by "didn't recognize it". You don't get device control with a USB mass storage device. USB mass storage only allows you to access whatever media you have stored on the device's media card. It does not function as an audio out for USB mass storage devices such as your Android device. iPods are certainly different as they have an interface designed for control and audio. Android has no such standard interface.

I don't have a 2012. What does the manual say?

EDIT: Found a PDF online. Section on USB starts on 4-32.
This system supports various USB memory
sticks, USB hard drives and iPod® players.
There are some USB devices which may not be
supported with this system.
Supported file formats start on 4-35 and continue on through 4-37.
