Hey guys, 2012 rogue SL has a constant high pitched noise coming from the drivers side of the engine. noise happens when engine is on and off and only stops when I disconnect the battery. I searched the forums and found some posts about a similar noise, but coming from the back and seemed to be related to the rear hatch, but this noise is most definitely coming from the front. Any ideas?

If it happens with the car off you should be able lift the hood and find where it's coming from. If you don't know what it is your looking at, take a picture and circle where the noise is coming from. Then maybe someone can help.

Are there any after market devices installed? Remote start? anything

I uploaded this video to youtube, no pictures but its to the left of the battery between the battery and the engine i couldn't figure out exactly where it was coming from. I hope this helps, I will post a picture tomorrow. Nothing aftermarket, no remote start, no sound system...bone stock.

Does it possibly sound like it's coming from the headlights?

That is crazy. I can't believe how loud that sound is.

I'm just guessing here, but check if one of the fuses on the battery terminal is blown. Here is a picture from amazon, https://www.amazon.com/2003-2015-Nissan ... B00BFE5VHM

Also, another guess try changing out the battery for another one and see what happens.

Just a thought. It kinda sounds like a feature I've come across in some company fleet vehicles: an alarm to prevent unauthorized use by non-employees. In those vehicles, there's a small circular "disc" on the dash, that each company driver has a matching circular disc key (looks like a small magnet) that he/she places against the one on the dash upon starting to keep the annoying alarm from going off. It's supposed to rearm itself each time you turn it off. worth a quick look.

Does it continue non-stop or does it dissipate after a while? This is a total guess but try opening the oil filler cap and see if it stops. PCV valve maybe?

That was my first thought too. Our vehicles at work have these alarms until you log in with your fob, but the sirens are usually in the cabin and turn off when ignition is off.

I've literally never heard a noise like that coming from the engine bay of a car. Are you the original owner? Possibly smoe kind of aftermarket alarm system well hidden under the battery tray?
