Hello everyone. Just bought a new to me 2012 rogue SV. I came to a problem with my rear wiper, turned it on last night when it was raining in my area and the darn thing got stuck in a 11oclock position. Apparently last owner replaced with wrong size wiper blade. I can't seem to take the darn thing off and it's just stuck in that position which is annoying to look at everytime I need to see the rear view. I tried taking out the arm assembly but that seems stuck too after removing the nut. Am I sol?? Help?

Remove the nut but DO NOT PRY ON THE GLASS. Get a battery terminal puller or other small puller and use that:

I replaced my entire arm assy after I bought my 2013. The spring in the factory units is weak IMO.

Thanks I just used a wiper arm removal tool I picked up at my local auto store. Did the trick. What is the part number for the arm assembly? Want to change mine out as well. Ty

I'm looking at replacing the rear wiper arm on our 1st gen Rogue.

Originally I was thinking of just replacing the blade, but I took a closer look and the blade arm is cracked at the bolt hole. Cracked all the way through.

SOME HISTORY: Someone hit our Rogue in the back, so the hatch got replaced through insurance. So I'm not sure whether the cracked blade arm just happened to be attached to a used hatch that got put on our Rogue. I don't think they took the dent out of the original Hatch.

But I got 2 questions.

1) Are the cheap wiper arm+blade on Amazon (for ~$20-30) any good? Will they work well enough? Has anyone gone this route? Or is this a case where the Nissan Arm + Blade is just better?

2) Since the blade arm is cracked at the bolt hole, so do you think I'll need the battery terminal puller to get the blade arm off? I mean, the crack is completely through the bolt hole on the arm, so if need be, I could probably stick a big screwdriver in the crack and just crank the hole open more.

What is everyone's thoughts?

Any help greatly appreciated! :)

Take care, The Rogue
:)

Nissan wipers are good, but they're no better than a brand name like Trico or Rain-X. On the other hand, Walmart has a China-cheap replacement blade and arm for the gen1's for $9.40, so you can buy five of those and a cheap terminal puller for the price of one OE replacement.

With the base of the arm already cracked, once the nut is off, I'll wager a hard up-down wiggle on the arm will pop it loose without no tools at all. Since it's broken anyway, prying the crack a little wider won't hurt anything either. So the puller is probably optional.

@VStar650CL

I found the one on Walmart . . . cheap. I was thinking of going for it, but it's going to take over a month to get here. So I might pay more on Amazon.ca to get one more quick. More $, but still cheap enough that if I don't like it I can scrap it and go for the Nissan one.

I started applying WD40 to the nut already. Hopefully I can get that nut off! LOL. :)

Thanks again!

It usually takes impact to bust those if they're rusty, but you can do a DIY impact with a box wrench, a hand sledge, and an assistant. Have the assistant hold clockwise pressure on the arm and then tap-tap the box wrench counter with the sledge. Once the nut lets go, they usually spin off with fingers.

Mission accomplished! :)

The cheap knock-off seems functional enough. We'll see. LOL. :) At least I have a rear wiper again.

After soaking the nut over night, I could see it wasn't that rusted. I just used a wrench and worked it back and forth (lightly) like suggested in this other thread . . .

And no pulling tool needed. The crack was big enough that as soon as I pulled on the arm the crack opened up even more.

Thanks again! (And to the others that made the previous posts / threads.)

'greatly appreciated.

Lots of useful stuff in this forum. The reason I like coming back and reading what's going on. :)
