I have a 2012 rogue SV. The manual says don't run it through the automatic car wash with the rotating brushes because it could damage the backup camera. Any advice on the brushless type with high pressure water? I have run it through once because I was not thinking. Should I wash it by hand only?

I find the high pressure (brushless) auto washers are fairly useless. They don't really get the car clean.
I would clean by hand, or maybe find a good tape to put over the camera while going through the auto washer with brushes. (Just have to remember to put it on before going in, and to take it off afterwards)

high pressure washers: will take your paint off. will remove rubber molding. will force water into places where it doesn't belong.

just run it through a normal washer and be done with it. most places are gentle brushes now anyway. i think they wanted you to avoid the plastic bristles: (image below)

new gentle washers: (giant pieces of cloth)

Hmmm... didn't know that. We took ours through a few washes and no issues there.

My mistake, I believe they were talking about self service pressure cleaning with a hand wand. Here is the actual text:

"When washing the vehicle with high-pressure water, be sure not to spray it around the camera. Otherwise,
water may enter the camera unit causing water condensation on the lens, a malfunction, fire or an electric shock."

I am going to intuit that the position of the camera (angled down and behind the hatch handle) will protect the camera from the automatic, horizontally spraying car wash.
