Hi all-

I've been working on this problem for a while. Before the code was thrown, I had engine RPM bouncing and jerky during acceleration. I replaced the spark plugs, but it didn't get any better.

It finally got bad enough to throw the P0011 Intake Camshaft Position Timing - Over-Advanced (Bank 1) and P0300 Random Misfire Detected codes.

After some research, I replaced the bank 1 Intake Timing Control Solenoid and cleared the codes. It does run better, but still feels a little off and RPM's aren't as smooth as they should be.

I checked the cam position sensors, and crank position sensor according to the service manual, and they checked out fine. This isn't an extremely consistent problem. Do sensors start to fail, or just fail all at once?

Also developed at the same time is a squeel from the front of the engine. I replaced the idler pulley, but it's still there. I assume it's either water pump, alternator, or tensioner. Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks

did you purchase brand new or is it used?

could have faulty oil jets and timing chains could be out of spec.

sensors are just like any other sensor on any other car. they fail without rhyme or reason.

you are on top of things as I would have suggested those parts you eventually replaced.

other things are the ECM may need to be reflashed/reset and/or other sensors.

I purchased it used.

Is there a way to reset the ecm without going to the dealer?

Thanks

yes there is an ECM reset procedure i think i posted it here. if not search "nissan armada ecm reset". you should find it.

you can also just remove the battery cable for about 20 minutes. this will make you lose seat settings, radio presets, etc but it clears out the ecm memory...
