2012 QX56 Liftgate Problems

Our QX56 liftgate starts to open but then stops. If I give it a little help, it will open with the motor running. It also needs the same bit of help to close.

I've replaced the struts but it didn't help. It's like the motor is weak. It doesn't make any unusual noises, it just doesn't function normally.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

They're brush motors, they can get weak or wear out. There's also a clutch in there which could be shot. The motor can probably be rebuilt by a place like Eurton, but if the clutch is gone you're into a new unit.

More than likely its the lift gate motor weakening. Doesn't have the torque to lift or pull the weight.
