My 2012 has 45,000 miles on it. It's a manual transmission model that is bare-bones. This morning it was about 25 degrees outside and the car had not been started since yesterday. When I turned it over the engine ran for a moment then quit. I tried to key it over again and the starter sounded like it wasn't engaging the flywheel. I keyed it over a few times quickly to see if the arbor was stuck then I tried starting the engine again. Same thing, the engine spun over and sounded like one does if you take all the spark plugs out. After a few second I felt the engine start pumping slightly, then a little more then it finally caught. It started! I revved it a few times and saw a sizeable plume of whitish smoke come out the tail pipe. This went away after a few seconds and the car ran great since then. Any ideas? No CEL, no issues afterwards and has never happened before this. Normally I would think missing tooth on the flywheel except the slight pumping that led to it finally starting then the cloud of smoke. :gotme

I just had this exact same problem, except I did not notice any smoke out the back.

Another thing I just noticed, that when you push and release the accelerator pedal, there is a loud sucking noise for a second or so, engine revs, then as the rpm's drop there is another sucking sound. the first one seems to be coming from the top area, and second from the belt/bottom/exhaust area.

is yours also making those sounds??
