I have a 6.0 grade hill to climb for 4 miles every day from work to home, and my 2012 Versa Hatchback 1.8 (not CVT) has to go to 4000 rpms to keep the speed up to 70 mph (3900 for 60 mph). Questions: is that normal? Is it damaging to the engine? Should I just accept it and the lowered gas mileage? If I go at 50 mph the rpms can be handled at 3000 rpms in the slow lane.
I guess the main question should be: Is running the engine at 4000 rpms for 4 minutes straight a day a problem for the engine? Thanks!
