Our 2012 Nissan Rogue is back in the shop. The problem we have is a growling noise when accelerating at low speeds, usually between 20-40 mph. I’ve noticed that the rpm’s run low when shifting to 2nd and 3rd gear. (I know there are no gears per se in a CVT transmission.) This is when the growling noise occurs. RPM’s are between 1200-1400 and it seems like it’s putting a load on the motor.
Anyone experiencing this problem or have any input?
Thanks in advance!

Is it AWD? If so, drop the driveshaft and see if the noise goes away. Sounds like maybe a bad fluid coupling.

You should also make sure the noise isn't just a shaky hood rod, most of the gen1 Rogues had no padding under the hood and the rods were known for making a growling noise with light throttle in just that RPM range. Some foam padding behind the rod will shut it right up.
