Howdy, what brand of tires does anyone recommend for 2011-2017 model Nissan Quest SV using 225/65R16. Original tires were good for only 28,000. Replaced with Michelin Defender T+H tires. Had all four wheels alignment 2 years ago. All four Michelin tires now have center tread depth on tires of 4/32. Sides of tires have 3/32 tread. New tires had 8-10/32 tread. Lucky if I get 30,000 out of the Michelin tires. Would be nice if I could at least get 50,000. I read that mini vans are hard on tires. Any suggestions on a good tire. Thanks.

Welcome aboard!

I'm a fan of anything Hankook makes. Make sure you go for a tire with a higher load rating (specs are available on TireRack.com). Also, recheck alignment before the new tires arrive!

ONLY 8/32 of tread (1/4") on new tires? I have never seen tread that shallow in my life. Here they run half inch or more depending on what mileage you buy.

Same here, I had the original tires for around same mileage, or maybe up to 30-35K mls. Replaced with Firestone (cant remember the name but good one too). By the time I swapped them few months ago at around 90K miles, they looked horrible. Edges were almost bald. I just installed Michelin Defender, and I hear from you they are no better? I’m desperate. Those top load heavy, very comfy, hauling-a-lot-of-stuff vehicles are eating up tires for breakfast. I have no advice for you then. I was hoping the Defender will give me 50K miles but I was wrong, according to your post.

You are underinflating if your edges are wearing before the middle. Add a couple more PSI. That will save you some gas too.

far raf has good point , also might wanna go for an "XL" rated tire , much tougher , don't flex & squish as much which accelerates wear :gapteeth:

Does the year matter?
I have a 2017 and it will need tires at 26k.

Q. Has anyone tried the General Altimax RT43 ...or .... Pirelli P4 Four Seasons??

I’m late to the party here but I’ll toss in our experience. 2012 SL purchased new and mostly driven in stop and go city conditions, but we take long road trips too a couple times a year. Always rotate the tires every other oil change. We’ve never had a set of tires last longer than 2 years or roughly 30-40k miles. Original Toyos were gone at 25k - they gave me a new set for half off and those were gone at 50k. At that point I tried a set of Michelins from Costco, then Hankook, then Pirelli Scorpion Verde. At 140k I just put another set of Coopers on, more out of desperation because I didn’t have much time before we were leaving for a 1000 mile trip. Local Pep Boys says that it’s just a heavy minivan and it eats tires. We plan to drive it for another 2 years so I hope this set lasts that long.

Those numbers are great.

Manufacturers will claim 60k mile treadlife, but I sure as hell don't want a set of tires that old.

If the alignment isn't off, and they're wearing evenly, 25-35k is a nice life span for a set of tires.
